On the shores of Little Sarasota Bay, in the heart of Sarasota County, there is a rare treasure known as The Oaks. It was established nearly a century ago as the dream home for Chicago grande dame Bertha Honoré Palmer, who particularly enjoyed this area. She built her home, “The Oaks,” on the site of today’s prestigious country club. The Oaks today is a dynamic community that continues to raise the standard for luxury living.
Not unlike Mrs. Palmer, residents of The Oaks come from around the world in pursuit of their personal expression of the art of fine living. They seek convenient access to the Gulf of Mexico or the endless opportunities of Sarasota, considered one of the finest places to live in the country. Golf
Members of The Oaks Club enjoy two championship courses, the Eagle and the Heron, with scenic views and spectacular elevation changes for a superior playing experience. These courses challenge highly skilled players, yet remain playable for golfers of all skill levels. Abundant tee times and numerous events have helped create a Club that is a golfer’s paradise. In 2007, the club completed a full renovation of the Eagle course by world-renowned course architect, Arthur Hills. This project features Sea Isle Supreme paspalum grassing; in fact, The Oaks Club was the first course in the U.S. to feature the finest variety of paspalum from tee to green. The Club has also contracted with Pete Dye, arguably the finest architect in golf today, to complete a master plan for renewing the Heron course. The combination of these two championship-style golf courses puts The Oaks Club in a class by itself. The golf program at The Oaks Club is one of the finest in the Southeast. Our professional golf staff, headed by a PGA professional, provides lessons and clinics throughout the year to help first-time golfers get started and to polish the skills of more practiced golfers. Championship grounds, excellent programming, extensive practice and teaching facilities, and a highly dedicated staff create a golf experience that surpasses mere recreation. F or tennis enthusiasts, The Oaks Club features twelve, state-of-the-art, HAR-TRU® tennis courts, including four lighted courts, recently renovated with the HydroGrid irrigation system and constantly maintained to tournament standards. Recognized as one of the most active tennis facilities in the area, the Club offers a variety of programs for tennis players of all ages and abilities.
For members seeking other fitness activities, a golf course path is accessible after daytime play for walking and cycling. Also, the junior Olympic pool is heated year round for those who enjoy swimming and aquatic aerobic exercise.
The genteel sport of croquet is also played at The Oaks Club on a well-manicured court. Lessons and friendly competition are available to anyone interested in pursuing this game.
The Oaks Club’s spectacular location on Little Sarasota Bay makes access to nearby marinas easy. Deep water sailing or fishing are just a short drive from the Club entrance.

The natural shoreline of Little Sarasota Bay includes mangroves, beach elder, and sea myrtle growing in profusion.
